After Zuri and I passed through Croatia unscathed, Montenegro surprised us with its beauty. The side roads there are often so small that you won’t see a car for hours. This was a real relief after the stress in Croatia. We cycled through the Bay of Kotor and then to Budva. Then we went on to the capital Podgorica and then to Ostrog, the 3rd holiest place of prayer on earth. People from all over the world come to this place to be healed from their suffering. We were allowed to sleep outside the monastery walls together with hundreds of other people. Another highlight was the National Park Durmitor. There we slept at 1920 m in the middle of the park before we cycled past Lake Pluzine to Bosnia. The people here were the most generous on my whole trip and also Zuri was spoiled everywhere. The only problem you have as a cyclist in Montenegro are the many dogs that defend the properties very generously and chased us many times and unfortunately Montenegro also has a huge garbage problem. All in all I can recommend Montenegro to every nature lover.

The individual stages are also available as videos on  YouTube
