Here are the Komoot maps of my E-Bike European Tour with my dog Zuri from 2019. There are no cycle routes in Montenegro except EuroVelo 8, which goes directly to Albania. But the roads are all in very good condition and the side roads are hardly used. One of the countries I liked best. Only the dogs that come storming out of the yards are annoying. It always helps to have a few stones in your pocket.

After a not so restful night next to the airport of Dubrovnik Luc, Zuri and I ride together on the EuroVelo 8. Luc is on a solar bike and rides the whole coast of Europe (13 000 km). After that, Zuri and I continue our journey to Montenegro. Wow, what a beautiful country..but full of cars and tourists. The Bay of Kotor is world natural heritage and you can immediately understand why. In Kotor itself is carnival. What a surprise in the middle of summer. Unfortunately there are fireworks at night, which makes Zuri run away in the middle of the night.

After a night on the campground in Budva we had an adventurous experience with a local bike dealer who had a few parts left over after repairing my brakes…then we went up 1000m and took a side road in to Podcoriga, the capital of Montenegro. Overwhelming nature and hardly used roads. Montenegro proves to be a really good cycling country. In Podcoriga we can sleep with a local before we head to the holiest place in the country, the monastery Ostrog.

After a not so restful night in the monastery Ostrog Zuri and I cycle on to Niksic. We pass beautiful nature, which unfortunately was always infested by mountains of garbage. In Niksic I noticed after a few hours break that the battery had not charged. With only one charged battery I went up a mountain with 1500 m, not knowing if the battery would be enough.

What an exciting day! Zuri and I are cycling in the heart of Montenegro. Beautiful nature and masses of tourists meet us in Durmitor National Park. I am still having problems with battery charging, which leads to the fact that I am standing in a restaurant with an empty battery despite 3 hours of battery charging. I take full risk and hope for cafes with electricity in Durmitor National Park, which we have to cross completely. But unfortunately this goes wrong…and then my dog Zuri is attacked…

The adventure continues. After a night at 1900 meters the descent begins through the beautiful Durmitor National Park to Pluzine. A lake so beautiful, which looks for its equals… But we want to go even further to Bosnia. The track goes up the mountain again and even today the mountain is higher than the battery lasts and you see cars in vain…
